A harmony of handwork in Kinetic Playground. The stitch is celebrated and brought forth in hand dyed wool and silk yarn. Dad told me stories of Kinetic Playground a club the teenagers would flock to in the late 1960s hosting Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, The Byrds, Janis Joplin, Jeff Beck, Led Zeppelin, Joe Cocker, Jefferson Airplane and Savoy Brown to name only a few. Sadly the club closed in 1973 due to neighborhood complaints. A wonderful collage of textures in this unique mini quilt. Each stitch quilted by hand through all layers starting with 3 and often through 10. A modern art quilt composed of repurposed fabrics saved and sustainably sourced in vibrant oranges, mustard yellow and chocolatey browns hand quilted in various wool and silk yarns. You can feel the emotional charge that art quilts bring in this framed piece. This original art boasts a uniquely intuitive 60s-70s mod vibe. Kinetic Playground is a thick piece bringing an inspiring bright spot to the space. Hand pieced and hand quilted Kinetic Playground arrives mounted on white linen in a vintage gold frame ready to display. Keeping with a sustainable practice using no new materials my frames are antiques and include no glass. This is one of a kind art and returns are not accepted. As in all of my pieces there is only one Kinetic Playground and the art will not be reproduced. This piece is signed by the artists stitched signature on the front corner before it is acquired and shipped, the reverse indicates the name of the piece and signature of the artist.
