Inspiring patchwork tapestry of earthy silks and satin textiles from fine furniture makers. Art quilt Timpani is thoughtfully hand cut, hand pieced and hand quilted composed of deep eggplants, vibrant reds, earthy warm browns and rich golds. This piece warms the room with big bold soft unique style. Thunderous beats are felt of the orchestras’ timpani section reverberating from the center outward, how very important the timpani is. This thick substantial wall hanging was created utilizing upholstery textiles hand cut and hand quilted using waxed twine, wool, alpaca and various yarns to complete a stand alone art piece.

I use various yarns to hand quilt through three to eight layers of textile it is the nature of the stitch to appear tight and loose (wispy long wool, alpaca, cotton, or recycled water bottles).  Each stitch travels through then is pulled back again only a little so that it is not tight -by design to stand above the cloth and create softness in the appearance. Some distinct areas of stitch are drapey with yarns for shadows to play creating dimensional effect.  Design elements are created with each yarn stitch. This piece is signed by the artist on the front in stitch and the reverse in ink.

Hanging sleeve sewn on reverse for easy hanging, includes wood slat or dowel, ships rolled and wrapped in plastic for protection.
